Beautiful sunset on the shoreline of a beautiful beach. The view was son calm that we forgot that our feet were freezing.



Paint, gintaras and dead fish

Last friday we’ve been to Būtingės geomorfologinis draustinis (geomorphological path of Būtingės), a territory administered by the park close to the border with Latvia; actually in front of the border: our task was to paint some wooden signs for the visitors nature path.

Promenade in the Curonian Spit

Last week we went with our mentor and a lithuanian volunteer to this 98 km long island inscribed in the UNESCO. Curonian Spit has the particularity to be between territory of Russia and Lituania. map spit

We took a Ferry boat in Klaipeda that can also carry cars and  bikes,  it only takes 10 minutes to reach the island.

After this little crossing we started walking in a pine forest on a hilly trail very suitable for bikes.

There were also some students from Turkey,  Azerbaijan  and Russia with us. We talked a bit to know each other. Continue reading

What’s the Dutch Cap?

The Dutch Cap, or in lithuanian Olando Kepure, is a 24 meters high hill located on the seaside region of Pajurio Regional Park. For its geologic properties it can be called a bluff, a kind of cliff with different sediments who never remain still: the aquifers inside the Cap make its composition unstable, and the erosion forces the cliff to keep moving east; this means that one day it will become higher and further from the sea.
